Profitec Pro 800 Vs Olympia Cremina

Profitec Pro 800 Vs Olympia Cremina

The Profitec Pro 800 and the Olympia Cremina are both awesome high-end, spring-lever espresso machines.

But which is the best? And which one should you go with?

In this post, I’ll compare the Profitec Pro 800 vs Olympia Cremina against a number of different factors like their quality, consistency, prices – and a lot more!

Quality And Durability

Olympia Cremina is built better and more durable than the Profitec Pro 800.

Quality And Durability

The Olympia Cremina is praised for its exceptional build quality, which uses high-quality materials like chrome-plated brass, steel, and stainless steel.

Some of the Cremina machines from the 1960s and 70s are still running well!

The Profitec Pro 800 is also well-built with a stainless steel base frame, but not as good as the Cremina.

Simplicity and Ease of Maintenance

The Cremina is simple to use and easier to maintain.

It has no moving parts beyond the lever and minimal components, and is seen as an advantage for ease of maintenance and repairability over decades.

It’s also more convenient and easier to learn for beginners, as the lever allows you to manually control and adjust during extraction.

The Pro 800 has more complex components like pumps, solenoids, and electronic controls, which could potentially require more maintenance over time.

And it is the larger machine with a higher capacity – so it takes up more counter space too.

Shot Quality And Consistency

Both machines make excellent espresso shots, so you don’t have to worry about that.

That said, the Pro 800 is made with a big boiler and an advanced heat exchange system.

This design helps it keep the temperature stable and precise. As a result, you get rich and tasty espresso shots with a nice balance of crema.

Price

Both machines are expensive, but the Cremina costs a bit more than the Profitec Pro 800.

Olympia Cremina models cost around $4,000, while the Pro 800 is around $3000.

The reason it’s more is probably because of its exceptional build quality and Swiss craftsmanship.

Boiler And Heating System

The Profitec Pro 800 has a large 3.5-liter boiler, which gives enough capacity for making multiple shots.

The machine features a heat exchange system for simultaneous brewing and steaming.

The Cremina has a smaller boiler compared to the Profitec Pro 800, but it does produce stable and consistent temperature for espresso extraction.

Plumbing And Reservoir Options

The Pro 800 can be plumbed directly into a water line or by using its 2.8L reservoir.

Plus, it operates silently without the vibration pump.

There are no plumbing options for the Cremina, so it just uses the 1.8L reservoir for water.
